Features
The tools to keep your thinking current.
Every one of them runs against the primary documents.
Portfolio view
The whole portfolio. One clear picture.
Connect a brokerage account read-only, import a CSV, or add your tickers. the charting company brings your positions, weights, cost basis, and performance into one view. Coverage follows your holdings as they change.
The Morning Brief
Start the day with the changes that matter.
A short brief on your holdings, ready at 5:30am ET. Filings, earnings, and material news are brought together with the source beside each claim. A quiet day gets a quiet brief.
Position Files
Keep the story behind every position current.
A living research file for each company: its business, financials, capital structure, open questions, and recent developments. Charts put the numbers in perspective; a dated timeline shows how the story has changed.
Filing Diff
Find the meaningful changes in the fine print.
Compare annual reports, quarterly filings, proxies, and registration statements side by side. See what was added, removed, or materially reworded, with routine formatting changes filtered out.
Risk Register
Follow a risk from its first mention onward.
Track risk disclosures across filings and see when language strengthens, a new exposure appears, or a familiar warning disappears. Every change stays connected to the original passage.
Call Notes
The earnings call, with room to look closer.
Structured notes on guidance, management commentary, and the questions analysts asked. Compare language with the previous quarter, then search the transcript and read the exact exchange.
News in context
Less repetition. More useful context.
See developments related to your positions with duplicate stories grouped together. Distinguish a change in the business from a wave of commentary about it, and follow the coverage back to its source.
Material Event Alerts
Choose what deserves your attention.
Set rules for new filings, guidance revisions, insider transactions, auditor changes, and emerging risks. Each alert includes its source document and the passage that triggered it.
Research assistant
Ask a question. Follow the evidence.
Ask across the companies in your portfolio in plain language. Answers draw from your coverage documents and link factual claims to specific passages. When the sources cannot support an answer, the assistant says so.
Memos & Export
Take your research with you.
Export research files, filing comparisons, and call notes as PDF or DOCX with citations intact. Use CSV for the underlying data, or connect through the read-only API. Desk plans add firm branding and disclosure blocks.
04 · Filing Diff
Companies rarely announce that they rewrote Item 1A.
A raw text diff of two annual reports returns four hundred highlighted lines, almost all of them date rolls, renumbering and counsel-driven rewrites that do not change what the filing says. the charting company aligns the documents section by section, matches paragraphs, and classifies each change as added, removed, materially reworded or cosmetic — then suppresses the cosmetic ones by default.
The escalations are the interesting part. A risk that moves from “may adversely affect” to “has adversely affected” has changed category, not wording.
03 · Position Files
The memo you would have written, if you had the afternoon.
Every holding gets a living document that rewrites itself when new filings land: what the business does, how it makes money, the capital structure, the last four quarters of reported results, the open questions, and a dated log of everything that has changed since you bought it.
Financial figures come from XBRL company facts rather than from parsing HTML tables, which is why the numbers reconcile to the filing.
08 · Material Event Alerts
It works while you sleep, and you decide what counts.
Rules are written as sentences: when risk factors in a 10-K for any holding change by more than a threshold, notify me in the morning brief. Alerts arrive with the source document attached and the triggering paragraph highlighted.
You can also leave the defaults on and get roughly two alerts a month per position, which is about how often anything real happens.
Getting your holdings in
Four ways in. None of them can trade.
Brokerage connection · primary
Read-only account link via SnapTrade
Broadest coverage of US and Canadian retail brokerages. Returns positions, cost basis and transactions. the charting company requests read-only scopes and never enables trading permissions.
Brokerage connection
Plaid Investments
Used where SnapTrade does not cover an institution. Pulls holdings, securities reference data and investment transactions. Same read-only posture.
File import
CSV / XLSX
Pre-mapped templates for Fidelity, Schwab, Vanguard, E*Trade, Robinhood, Merrill and Interactive Brokers Flex Query, which also supports scheduled automatic delivery. Generic column mapping for everything else.
Manual entry
Type in tickers
Ticker plus optional share count and cost basis. No account connection required. This is the default for the free tier and for anyone who does not want to link anything, ever.
You can use all of the charting company without connecting a brokerage account. Manual entry gets you the same research; it just won't update itself.
Coverage at launch is US-listed equities and ADRs. ETFs and funds are held and shown in your portfolio but receive holdings-level exposure summaries rather than full Position Files. Options, futures and crypto display as positions but are not researched.
Under the hood
What the pipeline actually does.
Six stages, running continuously. This is the part that makes the citations possible.
Ingest
EDGAR submissions, full-text search and the XBRL company-facts API are polled continuously for every issuer in any coverage set: 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, DEF 14A, S-1/S-3, 13D/G and Forms 3/4/5. Financial statement data comes from XBRL facts rather than parsed HTML tables, which is why the numbers reconcile to the filing. Transcripts and newswires arrive from licensed providers.
Normalise
Documents are segmented structurally, not as flat text: Item 1A stays Item 1A, MD&A stays MD&A, the Q&A portion of a call is separated from prepared remarks. Entities are resolved across ticker, CIK, ISIN and LEI, so a position maps to the right filer even after a ticker change, a spin-off or a re-domiciliation.
Diff
Filing comparison is section-aligned and paragraph-matched, then each change is classified: added, removed, materially reworded, or cosmetic. Cosmetic changes — renumbering, date rolls, formatting — are suppressed by default. This is the difference between a diff you will read and a diff that returns four hundred highlighted lines.
Retrieve
Every document is chunked with its structural metadata intact and indexed for hybrid retrieval, lexical and semantic, followed by reranking. When the charting company answers a question it retrieves spans first and reads only those spans. It does not answer from model memory.
Ground
Every factual sentence is anchored to a specific span in a specific document at a specific accession number. A verification pass re-checks each claim against its cited span before anything is published, and claims that fail verification are dropped rather than hedged.
Schedule
EDGAR is polled on a tight interval during filing windows and after the close, when 8-Ks cluster. Transcripts are processed on availability. Briefs compile at 05:30 ET. Alerts fire on ingest, not on a batch.

A clear view starts with a reliable source.

What the charting company doesn't do
It doesn't trade.
No orders, no routing, no rebalancing, no execution of any kind. Brokerage connections are read-only and we never request trading permissions.
It doesn't hold your money or your securities.
We are not a custodian, a broker-dealer, or a bank. Your assets stay where they are.
It isn't investment advice.
the charting company is not a registered investment adviser and does not provide personalised recommendations. It will not tell you to buy or sell anything, it does not issue ratings or price targets, and it has no opinion on what you should own.
It doesn't predict prices.
There is no model here forecasting where a stock is going. There is a system that reads documents and reports what they say.
It doesn't replace the filing.
Every claim links to the source. When something matters, read the source. We built the citations so you can.
It isn't always right.
It reads a great deal of text and occasionally misreads some of it. That is why nothing is published without a citation, and why every citation is one click from the original paragraph.
